Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer – CNC Machining (Aerospace Focus)
Location:
(40th St & Southern) 3617 E La Salle St, Phoenix, AZ 85040
Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship or Valid Permanent Resident status is required.
Responsibilities
Develop detailed, repeatable manufacturing process plans (routers, work instructions, tooling/fixturing designs) for new product introduction (NPI).
Continuously improve cycle time, yield, and cost for existing programs through data-driven process optimization.
Verify and revise process documentation for subsequent production lots to ensure consistency and compliance.
Design custom work-holding fixtures and tooling for multi-axis CNC mills, lathes, and Swiss machining.
Rapidly troubleshoot and resolve production downtime, quality escapes, and yield issues with urgency and rigor.
Partner with CNC programmers (CAM), operators, quality engineers, and program management to drive on-time delivery of complex assemblies.
Ensure 100% conformance to customer specifications (AS9100, NADCAP, ITAR, etc.).
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent technical experience).
5+ years of hands‑on CNC machining process development in a Tier 1 or Tier 2 aerospace supplier environment.
Expert‑level proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD (modeling, drawings, GD&T).
Proven track record creating FAA/DoD‑compliant manufacturing routers, traveler packages, and drawings.
In‑depth knowledge of metal finishing processes (heat treat, passivation, anodize, plating, nitriding, chemical films).
Flawless GD&T interpretation (ASME Y14.5) and ability to author inspection plans and FAI reports.
Demonstrated ability to write clear, visual work instructions (photos, diagrams, sequential steps).
Comfortable working under pressure with competing priorities and aggressive deadlines.
Preferred Skills
Experience with CAM software (Mastercam, or Esprit) – ability to review/post‑process G‑code.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt; expertise in PFMEA, Control Plans, 5S, Kaizen.
Familiarity with automated inspection (CMM, Vision Systems, Keyence, Zeiss).
Knowledge of additive manufacturing or hybrid machining processes.
Experience with Infor Syteline ERP.
Personal Attributes
Self‑starter with strong ownership mentality and bias for action.
Exceptional verbal and written communication – can brief executives and train technicians.
Team player who builds trust across programming, production, and quality teams.
Work Environment
Full‑time (exempt), on‑site position.
Must be a U.S. Person (ITAR compliance).
Occasional overtime and weekend support during critical launches.
