Role Description
The Sales Manager is responsible for ensuring that the store achieves or exceeds sales plan and profitability goals, as well as enhancing the David Yurman brand within the store and local market. The role partners with the store management team to oversee the implementation of operational policies and procedures. The Sales Manager effectively leads, coaches and supports sales professionals with a focus on client development and providing a high level of customer service to create a luxury experience.
Core Responsibilities
Partner with sales professionals to meet their individual sales plans and KPI
Participate in the development and execution of strategic initiatives to deliver the sales budget
Demonstrate an active role on the selling floor through sales leadership and client development
Support sales professionals in closing sales
Facilitate the implementation and success of special events held at the retail store
Remain current and knowledgeable of industry trends to identify strategic opportunities for maximizing sales within the market; maintain visual presentation based on company vision and market needs
Clientele & Service Management
Coach and monitor sales professionals in partnership with the Retail Store Director on accountability for client outreach and relationship development
Ensure store data capture goals are achieved
Maintain a luxury environment that is warm and hospitable, ensuring correct interpretation and implementation of visual guidelines
Provide appropriate feedback with the Retail Store Director to staff, ensuring they demonstrate the skills necessary for a positive and rewarding client experience in all customer interactions
Operations
Manage day‑to‑day activities on the sales floor; maintain presence to supervise staff and ensure appropriate floor coverage
Maintain business controls such as store inventory, requests for stock replenishment, and all repairs/returns
Implement and support all security measures
Partner with sales professionals in the administration of special order requests
Oversee store opening and closing in the absence of the Retail Store Manager
Talent
Collaborate with the Retail Store Director in hiring and providing performance review feedback; train new Sales Associates
Provide leadership through monthly scheduled meetings to review and coach on overall performance
Provide formal and informal feedback to build ongoing development opportunities
Explain and enforce KPIs, ensuring staff trend toward those measures
Qualifications
Minimum 1–2 years of proven experience managing in a similar role, preferably within a high‑end luxury accessories boutique with joint responsibility for sales and operations
Strong ability to motivate, establish business partnerships, and promote professionalism with both clients and staff
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment
Proven ability to drive results and strategic vision to develop business
Fine Jewelry and/or Fine Watch experience preferred, but not required
Flexibility to work in various roles based on business needs (e.g., sales floor, operations, etc.)
Flexibility to work non‑traditional hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Computer proficiency: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Compensation The expected base salary for this role is $80,000–$100,000 annually.
Base pay is one component of David Yurman’s total compensation package, which may also include healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, bonus potential, employee discounts, generous paid time off, sick time, and more.
