Clinical Research Nurse
Georgetown University’s Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Clinical Research Unit seeks a dedicated Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) to provide expert patient care and support clinical research initiatives. The role requires independence, regulatory compliance, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Job Overview This full‑time position is located on‑campus and involves coordinating patient care within the Clinical Research Unit (CRU) and other community settings.
Duties / Responsibilities
Lead study coordination as the primary liaison, ensuring seamless study implementation, protocol adherence, and regulatory compliance.
Deliver direct patient care to research participants and standard‑of‑care patients across various health conditions and age groups.
Collect and manage specimens and clinical data in accordance with study protocols.
Educate and advocate for research participants, ensuring informed consent and adherence to ethical guidelines.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize research execution and patient care.
Maintain expertise in safety regulations and compliance with institutional, federal, and local research guidelines.
Adapt to flexible scheduling, including days, nights, and weekends, based on CRU needs.
Key Interactions
Educate CRU staff and collaborating institutions on assigned study protocols.
Communicate critical patient status updates and treatment responses with multidisciplinary teams.
Engage with healthcare professionals across the hospital system, CTSA partner institutions, and the community.
Requirements and Qualifications
Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher (required).
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in nursing, preferably in acute care; research experience preferred.
Clinical skills: Phlebotomy, IV placement, patient assessment; chemotherapy certification beneficial.
Certifications: BCLS required; ACLS preferred.
Technical proficiency: MS Word and Excel; computer literacy essential for daily tasks.
Personal attributes: Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, self‑motivated, and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Work Mode Designation This position is designated as On‑Campus. Work mode designations are reviewed regularly to meet evolving University needs.
Pay Range $26.26 – $48.32 per hour. Compensation is determined by candidate qualifications, experience, education, skills, certifications, and the University’s business needs.
