About the Position Temporary Exempt appointment for 36 months. The Natural Resources & Lands Management Division manages 61,000 acres of watershed lands and 150 miles of utility right‑of‑way, protecting native species and ecosystems for future generations.
Role Description Project: Habitat Restoration with Native and Non‑Native Plant Control. The 3420 Natural Resource Specialist implements Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to support mitigation requirements for federally listed plant and animal species, as well as sensitive habitat impacts.
Maintains wildlife, native plant habitat, and biological diversity through habitat restoration and wildlife enhancement projects.
Determines plant composition for restoration of native ecosystems and rare and endangered species conservation.
Monitors rare and endangered plant and animal populations and habitat health and diversity.
Controls invasive species using Early Detection and Rapid Response techniques.
Performs landscape cleanup and general maintenance activities.
Work Schedule and Location 7 am – 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday 100 San Andreas Valley Road, Burlingame, CA 94011
How to Qualify Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience in conservation and management of natural ecosystems, native plant communities, and wildlife habitat. License: Valid California driver license. Certification: Must obtain Qualified Applicator’s Certificate (QAC) or Qualified Applicator’s License (QAL) from the State of California Department of Pesticide Regulation within twelve (12) months of hire.
Substitutions Completion of coursework in Biological Sciences, Natural Resource Management, or Earth Science may substitute up to eighteen (18) months of required experience. Three (3) years of professional gardening experience may substitute for up to one (1) year of required experience.
