Is an integrated design and build solution provider operating in the water sector. They have over 1,000 staff working across eight regional centres, primarily supporting six long term water sector frameworks operating both on their own and increasingly in joint ventures and alliances. The Role:

They are looking to strengthen their SHEQ team with an Environmental Advisor for their Advance Plus Framework which has been created to deliver works in AMP 7 for United Utilities. Based at the Preston office you will visit site locations around the Northwest region to undertake environmental audits, provide support and give advice on environmental management. Advise and promote environmental management on construction sites. Support site management in implementing requirements of Environmental Control Plans and complying with the Advance Plus integrated management system. Promote application and implementation of Advance Plus management systems. Liaise with Joint Venture and Supply Chain Partners. Assist in the development and delivery of environmental procedures, guidance, training, and other support materials. Support the identification and implementation of innovation to increase the sustainability of Advance Plus activities and assist in achieving operational Carbon Net Zero by 2030. Responsibilities: Support projects from tender through to commissioning and handover, to ensure all environmental requirements have been identified and satisfied during the project, and where feasible innovation and best practice has been implemented to reduce environmental impacts of the project. Produce Environmental Control Plans (ECPs) for projects. Undertake environmental audits and inspections on site to review the implementation of ECPs and compliance with legal and other requirements. Support sites to ensure that all waste is stored and removed from site in line with legislation Waste Duty of Care requirements. Coach site teams in the use of SmartWaste for environmental reporting, and other platforms as deemed necessary. Facilitate monthly environmental performance reporting at Client, Advance Plus, and company levels. Ensure environmental impacts and considerations are factored in at project design stage. Support the development of Invasive Species Management Plans. Review RAMS to ensure sufficient environmental content and consideration for activities with specific environmental risks. Liaise with the Advance Plus Environmental Planner to identify suitable environmental solutions and to support the environmental planning process, including application for consents, permits and permissions. Support the delivery of projects to achieve Biodiversity Net Gain. Support the Advance SHEQ team in the delivery of formal environmental training. Be familiar with and promote current environmental legislation and requirements of such. Participate in the development, regular review and update of the Environmental Management System/Integrated Management System. Provide advice, support and assistance to all project personnel to enable them to manage their environmental and sustainability responsibilities. Undertake investigations into environmental incidents (including Client/Regulator reporting where required) and improve its and produce alerts and lessons learnt as required. Encourage the reporting of environmental near misses/improve its onsite as a leading indicator to prevent environmental incidents. Supporting the completion of Recycled Aggregate Supplier Reviews to ensure compliance with waste and WRAP requirements. Experience: Construction industry experience. Strong written and verbal communication and negotiating skills. Effective time and workload management. Flexible approach. Ability to define goals and plan to deliver them. Full driving licence. Ability to work well as an individual and as part of a team. Practitioner or Graduate Member of IEMA. EUSR National Water Hygiene Water card.
