Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We keep the cloud running by supporting all AWS data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. You will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers, collaborating across AWS to deliver high safety and security standards while offering unlimited capacity at the lowest possible cost.
Key job responsibilities
Participate in projects of moderate complexity.
Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack‑level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
Perform rack installs, decommissioning, operational readings, and facility management.
Provide key performance indicators to senior engineers.
Manage on‑site contractors, sub‑contractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with established practices and local legislation.
Monitor performance of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
Adhere to all safety procedures while performing work.
Support basic ticketing systems, root‑cause analysis, change‑management creation, and documentation (procedures, BMS).
Work shifts up to 12 hours, rotating as needed; some locations require on‑call rotations.
Maintain critical infrastructure equipment to achieve 99.999% uptime.
Support multiple sites if required.
Walk job sites on uneven terrain, use ladders, and perform construction tasks.
Lift or move up to 39 pounds independently; participate in group lifts of 40+ pounds – perform repetitive tasks such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs, twisting, bending, and shoulder work.
Basic Qualifications
1+ year of electrical or mechanical experience, or 1+ year in data center or mission‑critical facilities (hospital, military, public safety, etc.).
High school diploma or equivalent.
1+ year of experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of data center engineering experience.
