Cloud Security Engineer (EST-only)
in the
United States .
The Cloud Security Engineer will play a key role in securing and scaling cloud infrastructure to meet high standards of trust, compliance, and operational resilience. This role works closely with distributed engineering teams and security leadership to design, implement, and automate cloud security controls across multiple environments. The position involves vulnerability management, container security, and developing monitoring and automation tools that provide visibility into the organization’s security posture. You will integrate security practices into CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code workflows, ensuring secure‑by‑design solutions. This role offers the chance to shape cloud security strategy, influence best practices, and protect sensitive data while supporting compliance across regulated frameworks. It is fully remote for candidates based in Eastern Time (EST) zones.
Accountabilities
Collaborate with security leadership to implement and maintain cloud security controls aligned with compliance and audit requirements.
Drive vulnerability management and remediation across containerized workloads and cloud‑native services.
Build and operate monitoring systems to report on security posture, compliance, and incidents.
Automate security operations including scanning, policy enforcement, and secret management.
Integrate security best practices into CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code workflows.
Participate in security reviews, audits, and risk assessments with cross‑functional teams.
Contribute to security documentation, policies, and awareness initiatives.
Partner with development teams to deliver secure‑by‑design solutions.
Participate in the on‑call rotation to support cloud infrastructure security operations.
Qualifications
Must reside in a U.S. Eastern Time Zone state and have experience working with globally‑distributed teams.
5+ years of experience in cloud security engineering or security operations.
Hands‑on expertise with AWS or other cloud platforms and Kubernetes.
Deep understanding of container infrastructure, IAM, and secure network design.
Experience with Terraform, Helm, or other infrastructure‑as‑code tools.
Familiarity with cloud‑native monitoring, logging, and vulnerability management tools.
Proven ability to automate and scale security processes via scripting or workflow tools.
Experience in threat modeling and penetration testing.
Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Security, GCP Professional Cloud Security Engineer, CISSP).
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Knowledge of SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO 27001, NIST, or other regulatory frameworks.
