Job Description As an Office Specialist – Purchasing, you will:

Provide a variety of procurement support functions to NDCS facilities and teammates.

Enter, track, and receive purchase orders using the State of Nebraska’s Payroll and Financial Center (PFC).

Interact with NDCS Accounting and other internal and external customers to ensure a seamless acquisition and payment experience.

Assist with compliance and transparency protocols, reporting, and system research for problem resolution.

Maintain files, both hard copy and electronic, and support document preparation.

Deliver quality administrative support while following proper procedures and policies.

Work independently in a fast‑paced environment with sharp attention to detail and accuracy.

Provide excellent customer service and rapport with NDCS teammates and other staff through clear and effective communication.

Requirements & Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

Coursework or training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers, software, and office equipment.

Experience in office support services or public contact; applying criteria/regulations; and/or performing administrative/secretarial support work.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Microsoft Office applications.

Minimum of two years’ experience/training/education in an administrative/office/secretarial support function.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Applicants must pass pre‑employment exams in this order: physical exam/screening and a drug test at a randomly announced time. Successful completion of the fully paid Nebraska Department of Correctional Services Training Program at the Staff Training Academy is required.
