Freelance Native-Level German Technical Translator
Hours : Variable (depending on project needs)
VeraContent is a multilingual content agency that helps global brands and institutions craft high-quality content across languages and markets. Our team of language professionals, editors, and strategists works together to create meaningful stories—especially when those stories involve complex topics and specialized audiences.
We’re currently collaborating with Bluebeam, a company that develops software solutions for design, architecture, and construction professionals. Their tools help streamline communication and document management across complex building projects.
We already have a small team of linguists working on this project, but we’re now looking to expand our team with additional freelance translators.
We’re seeking
English-to-German translators
who are interested in joining us for this ongoing collaboration. The content has moderately technical nature, as it targets a niche audience of architects, engineers, contractors, and logistics professionals. While the texts are not highly complex, familiarity with the technical language and tone of the industry is highly recommended.
You’ll work on a range of content types, from white papers, eBooks and blog posts to internal communications, emails, and image localizations.
This role is ideal for translators who are:
Comfortable working with technical or B2B content.
Curious about the architecture, construction, and engineering sectors.
Interested in gaining experience with a dynamic multilingual agency.
The purpose of this project is to create multilingual content that sounds natural, fluid, and relevant for native audiences.
You’ll be working with the client’s translation platform, Smartling, so previous experience with this tool would be appreciated. The current estimated volume is 10,000–16,000 words per month, though this may increase over time.
Main responsibilities
Translate a variety of technical and semi‑technical copy from U.S. English into German.
Conduct in‑depth research on Bluebeam’s products, use cases, and benefits.
Update and maintain the client’s style guide and terminology glossary.
Question source material when needed, raising queries or suggesting improvements.
Collaborate closely with internal project managers and other linguists.
Ensure all translations are accurate, clear, and engaging for the Bluebeam audience.
Requirements
Native‑level German, or fully bilingual proficiency.
Proven experience translating or writing about technical subjects (ideally related to construction, architecture, or engineering).
Experience using Smartling (appreciated).
Strong research skills and attention to detail.
Comfortable communicating questions and terminology suggestions.
Proactive, self‑motivated, and reliable under deadlines.
Familiarity with editorial workflows and cloud‑based tools.
We offer
Flexible, fully remote freelance setup.
Opportunity to work on an international, high‑impact technical project.
Collaboration with a multicultural, multilingual team of content professionals.
