Fulltime Athletic Trainer – Clinical Injury Prevention Specialist
Location: Lafayette, IN
Schedule: Second Shift (3 PM–11 PM, Mon–Fri), full‑time, 40 hours/week. Located in a large manufacturing facility on a beautiful campus.
About the Role We are seeking an experienced and proactive clinician with a strong interest in injury prevention and early intervention. A background in Occupational Health is strongly preferred. In this on‑site role you’ll work directly with manufacturing employees, focusing on upper extremity injuries (hands, elbows, shoulders). This is not a traditional treatment position—you’ll provide real‑time support, ergonomic and worksite evaluations, education, and coaching on safe body mechanics and posture.

What You’ll Do
Perform Physical Demand Analyses including data collection, measurement tools, video analysis, and report reviews to identify high‑risk work areas.
Communicate regularly with onsite PH Medical Team and Client Safety Team regarding workplace countermeasures and injury prevention strategies.
Attend meetings and serve on task forces as necessary.
Recommend guidelines for flexibility, strength, and conditioning to prevent injury and support wellness.
Provide client follow‑up and recommend work performance adjustments based on knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and ergonomics.
Develop and lead group and individual training sessions on functional movement patterns, job simulations, and educational programs (e.g., stretching programs, Lift Labs).
Educate employees on early symptom management for minor musculoskeletal discomfort.
Conduct injury/musculoskeletal screening and assessment (history, observation, palpation, ROM, manual muscle strength, reflex testing, myotomes, dermatomes, special tests).
Provide basic first aid in alignment with OSHA first aid standards to prevent recordable incidents.
Coordinate care and communicate with on‑site medical providers.
Complete administrative requirements including forms, reports, and EMR documentation promptly.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
Education:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited professional Athletic Training education program
Current BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
Current AHA or ARC Basic Life Support certification for health care providers (Advanced Cardiac Life Support may also be required)
Specialty certification in Ergonomic Specialty preferred
Experience:
Experience in Occupational Health and Safety; knowledge of current OSHA regulations preferred
Experience in Ergonomics preferred
