Molecular Biology Scientist Location: Chesterfield, MO, USA Work Model: Onsite Shift: M‑F Employment Type: Temporary (Full‑time) Estimated Duration: 6 months Hourly Rate: $35.00 – $38.00

Education and Experience Requirements

Master’s Degree (MS) or higher in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related field.

2+ years of hands‑on experience with RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, PCR/qPCR, and NGS library preparation.

Experience with automation systems such as Biomek, Tecan, or Mantis for molecular workflows (2 years).

Familiarity with LIMS/ELN platforms for experiment tracking and documentation.

Required Skills

Proven hands‑on experience with RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, PCR/qPCR, and NGS library preparation.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to high‑quality data and documentation.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work productively in a team‑oriented environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and general data analysis tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using automation systems such as Biomek, Tecan, or Mantis for molecular workflows.

Prior experience in an industrial biotechnology, agricultural biotechnology, or life sciences R&D laboratory environment.

Knowledge of NGS data workflows and/or sequencing quality control.

Position Summary Bayer Crop Science is seeking a highly motivated and self‑driven Molecular Biology Scientist to join our R&D team. This position plays a critical role in supporting gene expression analysis and sequencing applications that enable innovative product discovery and development within Bayer’s Crop Science Division. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands‑on molecular biology experience, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast‑paced research environment.

Responsibilities

Perform quantitative RT‑PCR (qPCR) workflows, including RNA and DNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, and data analysis with high accuracy and reproducibility.

Execute a variety of Next‑Generation Sequencing (NGS) library preparation protocols to support both RNA and DNA sequencing workflows, utilizing manual and automated systems.

Proactively document and track all experimental work using LIMS and electronic lab notebooks (ELN).

Collaborate closely with team members and laboratory operations staff to ensure efficient and accurate data generation and delivery.

Demonstrate sound judgment, adaptability, and accountability in all aspects of laboratory operations.

Maintain compliance with data integrity, safety, and quality standards within a regulated research environment.
