Job Description
Full‑Time Junior Deputy Construction Manager
A WSP U.S. “full‑time” Junior Deputy Construction Manager may be based in any of the following U.S. offices: Tempe/Phoenix, AZ; San Diego, CA; Chicago, IL; Austin, TX; Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; Tampa, FL; Las Vegas, NV.
The successful candidate will provide construction and technical direction on building/facilities construction projects. Our ideal candidate will have experience overseeing small‑to‑medium, multi‑disciplinary projects from assignment through commissioning, close‑out, and turnover to client.
Impact / Responsibilities
Support the Project Manager in tendering works, bid reviews and bid analysis.
Assist in managing construction projects once contracts are awarded.
Coordinate contractors.
Monitor budgets and schedules to meet cost and delivery commitments.
Conduct construction monitoring and produce weekly status reports.
Maintain a weekly construction log in a concise, professional style.
Record and document significant verbal,telephone,media communication.
QC and resolve poor‑quality fabrication, installation or material issues.
Control change orders including contractual requirements.
Ensure safety, comply with WSP and USPS SH&E standards.
Participate in project start‑up meetings and safety documentation.
Respond to RFIs, material/submittal submittals and shop drawings.
Interface with client as required.
Deliver project turnover documentation: as‑built drawings, training manuals, OEM installation/operation & maintenance manuals.
Test and commission equipment and systems.
Field assignments are local and regional; overnight travel may reach 100%.
Implement standards per USPS/WSP program requirements; seek guidance from senior construction managers.
Understand construction processes.
Demonstrate construction‑management skills: integrate, scope, time, cost, quality assurance, change‑priority and communication for project info handling.
Ensure projects finish on schedule, within budget, and meet quality and contract standards.
Maintain clear record‑keeping per contract and regulatory needs.
Comply with all USPS/WSP environmental, health & safety rules.
Buildings: offices, light‑industrial, maintenance facilities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s in construction, engineering or related field.
1‑3 years in construction management or allied disciplines.
Self‑motivated, entrepreneurial, proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, MS Project; familiar with BlueBeam, AutoCAD; knowledge of Procore is a plus.
5+ years supervising resources on light‑industrial or commercial projects.
Strong communication, environmental/safety regulatory compliance, negotiation and construction‑management capabilities.
Organized, dependable, efficient, detail‑oriented.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Experience with technical disciplines.
Strong organizational skill.
Read, interpret, blueprints, drawings, diagrams, floor plans, shop drawings, specifications, schedules related to architecture, civil, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and building structures.
Physical Demands
Stoop, sit, stand, or remain on feet for extended periods in field testing.
Work in varying office and field settings.
Travel 100% – overnight stays, flexible hours.
Pass drug test, background check, company Motor Vehicle Record check.
Compensation & Benefits Salary: $67,600 – $111,650 (subject to qualification, location, and equity).
