CNC Operator and Programmer - Full Time
Overview Individuals assigned to the Machine Shop shall be able to use blueprints, drawings, sketches, or computer-aided design (CAD) and manufacturing files to program using computer software such as Mastercam CAD/CAM, SolidWorks, and/or Fusion 360 for the Computerized Numerical Control machines and operate CNC machines to produce precision metal or plastic parts. Must also set up different types of equipment that are controlled by computers.
Responsibilities
Able to select and upload tools, set‑up and run CNC Mills and Lathes for first article and production runs. Work independently with all types of machines and controls without supervision.
Identify and change cutting tools, inserts, drills, end mills, boring bars, grove tools, threading inserts, tool holders, collets, hard and soft jaws.
Edit existing programs based on results of first article piece, updated drawings or engineering change orders.
Check own work using inspection tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, high gauge, pin gauge, thread gauges, inner mic, optical comparators to maintain accuracy.
Visually check and identify material types and surface finish of machined parts.
Understand how systems and machines operate to identify sources of issue when machine is down.
Read manuals, schematics, diagrams, manufacturer’s instructions, and troubleshooting trees.
Follow Material Board Review (MRB) dispositions, rework parts to align with drawings or DMS.
Lifting and handling assemblies and components on machine work surfaces and moving heavy parts using overhead hoists, cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks.
Perform rigging for aligning and securing heavy parts, attaching loads, controlling movement.
Qualifications

Ability to program CNC machines using Mastercam, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, depending on job requirements.
Hands‑on experience with conventional milling machines, lathes, drill presses, and band saws.

Salary and Benefits The pay rate for this role in California is $41.11 to $50.05 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
