School Based Speech Language Pathologist (33176) Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is seeking a full‑time Speech Language Pathologist to work in a Buffalo area school with students in grades K‑8th. BHSC provides a free continuing education program and yearly ASHA dues reimbursement for eligible full‑time employees.

$2,500 Sign‑On Bonus: $1,250 paid upon hire and $1,250 paid after 6 months of employment.

The SLP is responsible for evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for students (grades K‑8) with communication disorders in an educational setting. Responsibilities include the implementation of appropriate Speech‑Language Pathology instruction, teaching, habilitating, or rehabilitating the communicatively impaired student.

Essential Functions

Impart knowledge via implementation of appropriate Speech‑Language Pathology instruction.

Display competence in speech‑language impairment, either licensed or under careful direction and supervision of a licensed SLP. Determine type and severity of impairment, prognosis, and appropriate instruction and treatment.

Evaluate, diagnose, and recommend therapeutic intervention for individuals with communication disorders. Work collaboratively with other professionals such as classroom teachers, other SLPs, OTs, PTs, audiologists, supervisors, etc.

Submit written reports of evaluations, treatment, educational plans, progress reports, and discharge reports. Maintain paperwork within legal and agency guidelines and complete it timely.

Make appropriate referrals as needed to achieve positive therapeutic results.

Communicate regularly with families and students.

Exhibit professional judgment, maturity, and maintain professional knowledge through continuing education programs. Participate in delivery of and/or attendance of in‑service programs and formal staff training. Maintain SLP licensure and TSSLD certification.

Licensed Speech Pathologists are required to supervise CFYs and TSSLDs appropriately, ensuring legal guidelines and agency policies are precisely followed.

Any other duty as requested by supervisor.

Education Required Master’s degree from an accredited speech‑language pathology program.

Required License/Registration/Certification

New York State licensed Speech‑Language Pathologist (or CFY eligible)

Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology issued by the American Speech‑Language Hearing Association (ASHA) (or CFY eligible)

Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) Initial or Professional certificate or TSHH Permanent certificate

Physical Requirements

Physical actions may include, but are not limited to, bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, printing, crawling, and running.

Vision, speech, tactile, and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.

Frequent sitting/standing and, when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.

Salary $56.25 – $71.25 per hour.
