We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular & Thoracic Nurse Practitioner for a 66‑day locum tenens assignment in New Hampshire, starting Jan 12, 2026. This role features a schedule of four 10‑hour shifts each week with 1:4 rotating call on weekdays and weekends. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced surgical first‑assist skills, including vein and artery harvesting, and will be comfortable managing patients in both intra‑operative and post‑operative settings.

Responsibilities and Duties
Conduct pre‑operative assessments including H&Ps, ordering and interpreting diagnostics, obtaining patient consents, and preparing patients for surgery.
Assist in intra‑operative procedures such as CABG, valve repairs/replacements, thoracic surgeries (e.g., lobectomy, aneurysm repair), vein and artery harvesting, hemostasis, wound closure, and chest tube management.
Provide post‑operative care by rounding in ICU/step‑down units, managing drains and wounds, monitoring for complications, educating patients, and coordinating discharges.
Manage chest tubes, drains, and post‑op patient care in ICU settings.
Demonstrate strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, surgical protocols, and peri‑operative patient management.
Additional Information
Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a surgical first‑assist, preferably in cardiovascular or thoracic surgery.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in New Hampshire.
Proven proficiency in vein/artery harvesting and assisting in open‑heart and thoracic procedures.
