Job Overview We are looking for a driven
Project Engineer
with a focus on
civil earthwork and mass grading
to support large-scale dirt projects across the Western U.S. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, technically skilled, and eager to grow under the mentorship of an experienced Project Manager. The Project Engineer will assist in the planning, execution, and documentation of field operations, with an emphasis on
production tracking, material quantities, cost control, and subcontractor coordination .
Key Responsibilities
Support the Project Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations on mass grading, excavation, soil remediation, and site prep projects.
Track quantities, field production, and job costs using
HCSS (HeavyJob) , Excel, and other tools.
Assist with the preparation of daily logs, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and change orders.
Review civil plans, grading sheets, and specifications to identify field requirements and pre-task planning needs.
Coordinate with survey crews, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure alignment on scopes and timelines.
Participate in job walks, pre-construction meetings, and quality inspections.
Monitor safety compliance and ensure adherence to environmental regulations and project standards.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation and assist with project closeouts.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in
Civil Engineering ,
Construction Management , or related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered.
1–3 years of experience in
civil construction , ideally supporting earthwork or grading projects.
Proficient in
HCSS (HeavyJob) ,
Microsoft Excel , and
Bluebeam ; Procore experience a plus.
Strong understanding of construction drawings, civil grading, and utility scopes.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
Willingness to work on active job sites and travel as needed (Western U.S.).
