Job Description
Summary
Responsible for providing general clerical duties and support needs for the Advising and Testing Center staff.
Assist and administer assessment services for South Plains College. Activities include administering, proctoring, and interpreting scores, as well as maintaining security, confidentiality and staffing for tests. In addition, the assistant will be able to compile statistical reports and maintain records. Assessments include college placement testing, selective entry program testing, all SPC testing in the Advising and Testing office, and proctoring of accommodation testing at all locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities •Administer and proctor all exams at SPC in the Advising and Testing Center including placement, entrance and licensure / certification exams •Administer and proctor exams for students with disabilities •Schedule exams, reserve rooms and prepare rosters for each exam •Maintain score reports •Manage online test registration •Provide input to Associate Director of Advising and Testing for developing assessment services, scheduling tests, securing test rooms, preparing the annual budget and updating testing center materials and website •Provides seminars on test- taking skills, test anxiety and other areas as the need arises •Serve as a resource for advisors, assisting with selection, delivery, interpretation of program, interest and career assessment instruments •Travel to other locations will be required in order to provide testing services •Administer National Tests on specific weekends •Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience •Associates Degree required •Training / experience in administration and interpretation of assessment •Higher education experience preferred •Excellent computer skills •Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Communication Skills
Be able to communicate and effectively present information in one on one situations with students, visitors, faculty and other employees of the organization. Possess excellent public speaking skills and ability to project a positive image of the college.
Language, Writing and Reporting Skills
Be able to read and comprehend simple and complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Be able to write simple correspondence and reports. Ability to write well, employing accepted principles of business communications, is preferred.
Computer Skills
Experience necessary to apply current computer technology and software applications to essential responsibilities, duties, and tasks. Knowledge and experience with working with computers and software in a windows environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office is essential.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Be able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Organizational Skills
Be able to organize tasks and activities essential to performing the specific duties and responsibilities of this job.
