Join our team as an Environmental Program Coordinator and lead critical environmental compliance initiatives that protect public health and water quality in our community. This role offers the perfect blend of technical expertise, regulatory compliance, and collaborative problem-solving.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead Environmental Compliance Programs
Coordinate all aspects of federal, state, and local environmental compliance programs.
Develop and monitor district-wide compliance plans and report to leadership and regulatory agencies.
Conduct quality control reviews for permitting, inspection, and sampling of commercial/industrial facilities.
Be a Regulatory Expert
Serve as the District's primary representative with EPA, Regional Water Quality Control Board, and local agencies.
Monitor and interpret changes in environmental regulations and policies.
Prepare annual pretreatment and pollution prevention reports.
Drive Program Excellence
Provide instruction and training to USDs Environmental Compliance Inspectors to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
Evaluate wastewater discharge permits and recommend enforcement actions.
Develop industrial discharge limit and monitoring programs.
Collaborate and Problem-Solve
Work with Environmental Compliance Coach (Supervisor) on managing the annual sewer service charge revenue and compliance.
Work directly with businesses and industries to resolve discharge violations.
Investigate illegal discharges to sanitary sewer and storm water systems.
Present program performance updates to management and Board of Directors.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or related field.
5+ years of progressive experience in industrial waste inspection, permit evaluation, and compliance monitoring.
Experience with pretreatment systems design and enforcement activities.
Technical Expertise
Strong knowledge of wastewater control principles and environmental regulations.
Proficiency with laboratory procedures and water quality testing.
Experience with database, spreadsheet, and reporting software.
Professional Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders including regulatory agencies, businesses, and the public.
Team-oriented approach with customer service focus.
Requirements
Must obtain CWEA Grade III Environmental Compliance Inspector Certificate within 12 months.
Valid California Class C driver's license with clean driving record.
Ability to work in various weather conditions and wear safety equipment.
Physical ability to climb ladders and perform field inspections.
