Overview
The Extrusion Associate 3 (EA3) is a training position through which Associates may advance to the Extrusion Associate 4 (EA4) position. Through this training position, associates will learn to operate extrusion lines and produce vinyl siding products and accessories: ensuring that extruder outputs are consistent with product specifications and that quality assurance standards are maintained by inspecting finished product for consistency. The duties and responsibilities include verifying operational status of all equipment on assigned line according to start-up check list, maintaining extruder and all peripheral line equipment settings, performing quality assurance responsibilities, notifying supervisory personnel of deviations, communicating with Maintenance Department and Manufacturing Shift Supervisor about machine malfunctions, assisting Extrusion Associate 4 with troubleshooting operational problems, conducting line/panel checks, performing housekeeping duties, monitoring Extrusion Associate 1s and 2s, relieving line EA1s and EA2s for breaks, developing communication skills, completing all extrusion and quality assurance related paperwork, referring to Production Schedule, performing all quality assurance checks, punching time clock before and after shift, observing health and safety practices, performing pre-start checks, performing other related duties and assignments, maintaining supplies at workstation, communicating with Material Handler(s) to move full warehouse racks, aiding with training of new personnel, floating to relieve Extrusion Associate 1s, 2s, 3s, and 4s for breaks, attending weekly shift meetings, participating in all plant safety programs, notifying Supervisor if proper tools are not furnished, and assisting with production equipment maintenance. Qualifications include a high school graduate/GED, six months of related or production experience, ability to read, write and have working knowledge of machine mechanics, common sense, positive attitude, excellent attendance, quality and safety consciousness, team player attitude, good communication skills, ability to operate, read, and interpret test equipment/findings, ability to learn to operate a computer and ten key, ability to use and read calipers and micrometers, ability to work quickly with product, ability to lift up to 86lbs on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist and ability to team lift 87 to 100lbs, excellent manual dexterity, extensive standing, frequent bending, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, twisting and walking, safe work performance, compliance with all legislative requirements, and proper discharge of safety responsibilities.
