SUMMARY :
As a Commercial Lending Officer at our credit union, you will play a key role in expanding our commercial loan portfolio-primarily focused on real estate-secured loans. You will manage and grow a portfolio of business members, provide expert guidance on complex financing needs, and ensure ongoing support across the loan lifecycle. This role emphasizes relationship development, portfolio performance, and regulatory compliance, with a strong partnership with the AVP of Business Lending to meet growth targets and support strategic lending initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Actively source and originate commercial real estate loans, aligning with the credit union's annual loan production target.
Conduct initial borrower consultations, analyze financials, and structure loan for approval.
Perform ongoing portfolio reviews and manage annual renewals, site visits, and risk assessments in accordance with MBL policies.
Partner with Business Services Officer and AVP Business Lending to support loan processing, documentation, and funding.
Monitor borrower performance and proactively manage risk through financial tracking and covenant compliance.
Business Member Relationship Management :
Serve as a trusted advisor to business members by offering tailored lending solutions, particularly in real estate investment and owner-occupied properties.
Collaborate with the Business Services Officer to deepen relationships through bundled product offerings.
Maintain a high standard of service, addressing inquiries, managing expectations, and ensuring member satisfaction.
Promote deposit, lending, and payment solutions to enhance business engagement.
Loan Servicing & Operational Support :
Collect and validate loan documentation required for application, closing, servicing, and annual reviews.
Ensure all business loan files meet regulatory standards, including collateral documentation and insurance.
Support pipeline reporting, file audits, and follow-up on outstanding documentation or borrower conditions.
Market Awareness & Strategic Growth :
Stay informed about commercial lending trends, interest rates, and competitive landscape.
Identify opportunities for growth in real estate and business lending markets within the credit union's footprint.
Attend networking events, community functions, and industry meetings to represent the credit union and source new opportunities.

Demonstrated ability to originate and manage a high-quality portfolio of commercial loans, including real estate-secured financing.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, or a related field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in commercial or business lending, with a focus on commercial real estate loans. Solid knowledge of business financial statements, loan structures, and regulatory requirements.
