The College of Engineering invites applications and nominations for the Goodnight Distinguished Chair in Battery and Energy Storage Systems Engineering. This role is pivotal to establishing the College of Engineering as a leader in battery and energy storage systems engineering, including leadership in teaching, research, and innovation. Responsibilities: Research and Innovation:
Lead an active, externally funded research team in battery technologies, electrochemical energy storage, or related fields. Teaching:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in energy storage systems, electrochemistry, power systems, or other related topics. Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines to address cross-cutting challenges in energy storage and sustainability. Leadership:
Provide leadership in organizing, forming, and facilitating interdisciplinary teams. Service:
Contribute to departmental, college, and university service. The successful candidate is expected to build an internationally recognized research program, demonstrate the ability to attract external funding, teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and serve as a research adviser for doctoral students. Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field. A strong publication record in battery technologies, electrochemical energy storage, or related fields. A successful record of securing external funding. A record of leading, or promise of leading, multidisciplinary research teams. A commitment to excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and service. Preferred Qualifications: Expertise in battery technologies, electrochemical energy storage, or related fields. Experience in leading multidisciplinary research teams. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education. Application Process:
