This Position reports to:
R&D Team Leader
ABB is pioneering technology leader in motor and drives which are an integral part of everyone’s lives. Our drives offering is the most comprehensive, unmatched by anyone else in the drives industry.
We are looking for an R&D Engineer for System Drives experienced with embedded software development and control theory background to help us maintaining #1 position as global drives player. As a member of the Research and Development (R&D) team based in Krakow, you will be responsible for developing and implementation of control concepts for our portfolio of medium voltage drives.

The work model for the role is: hybrid
You will be mainly accountable for:
Research, development and productization of control, modulation and estimation methods for power conversion systems, including linear and nonlinear control for Medium Voltage Drives Design of embedded real-time software using modern C++ Involvement in the whole software development life cycle: requirements engineering, design, implementation, testing, maintenance Conducting product troubleshooting in the lab and in the field Effectively working with cross-functional teams including physics, control algorithms design, software and system engineering Leading relevant design and development tasks; providing technical leadership; coordinating with other people Occasional international travel to our R&D centers or customer locations
Qualifications for the role :
PhD or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or Automation and Robotics At least 5 years of experience in C++ development for embedded applications Sound foundation in control theory Understanding of converters and power electronics Good written and spoken English Solid understanding of configuration management, code versioning, release processes, requirements management, continuous integration and test driven development Additional advantage would be proficiency with Matlab/Simulink Self-motivated, independent, and comfortable working in an Agile team environment, with strong problem solving skills Strong desire to learn and share knowledge
