CNC Sheet Metal Machine Programmer
Join Our Team as a CNC Sheet Metal Machine Programmer in Bay City, MI. Pay Rate $19-$22/hr based on experience. Schedule is Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm. Job Summary: The Sheet Metal Machine Programmer is responsible for creating and optimizing CNC programs for fabrication equipment such as laser cutters, punch presses, press brakes, and other sheet metal machinery. This role supports efficient, accurate production by converting part drawings and models into precise machine instructions while considering material use, machine capabilities, and safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Program CNC equipment (e.g., laser cutters, turret punches, press brakes) using Amada, Lantek, and Cincinnati software. Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models to generate accurate 2D part flats. Optimize material usage through part nesting and tool path planning. Collaborate with design, customers, and manufacturing to resolve manufacturability issues. Develop manufacturing cutting bills. Maintain a database of programs, parts, and tooling for repeat jobs. Update and modify programs based on production feedback or design changes. Ensure all programming complies with safety and quality standards. Support machine setup and troubleshooting when needed. Fully participate in and support the Metro Fabricating Quality System. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. 2+ years of experience in CNC programming for sheet metal fabrication. Proficiency with CAD/CAM or machine programming software. Understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, materials, tolerances, and tooling. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Preferred Experience: Familiarity with Amada, BLM, and Cincinnati, or similar fabrication machinery. Experience in sheet metal fabrication preferred. Why Join Us?
