SALARY RANGE:
$42,145 - 54,519 per year
WORKWEEK:
9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. (35 hours/week). Evening and weekends as needed.

ABOUT THE POSITION: The
Clerk Driver / Clerk 1
under direction, drives the Bookmobile for the purpose of transporting books, supplies, materials and/or passengers.
Clerk Driver / Clerk 1
performs routine, repetitive clerical work involving the processing of documents in a variety of functions; including assisting with checking books in and out, utilizing keyboard equipment to input and/or retrieve information on a computer console, typewriter or other key entry device both on the Bookmobile and in the office.

may be called toman tabling events and participate in programs and events, assist with routine library tasks such as shelving books and setting up book displays.

may be called to announce the Bookmobile arrival on site.

will assist patrons with general customer service about Bookmobile and library services and/or referring patrons to an appropriate other staff member. The

will perform other routine clerical work such as transporting boxes of books to and from the bus to the Bookmobile Office at Five Corners; maintaining shelves and shelf reading, and doing other related work as required.
JOB DUTIES: Drives and services a motor vehicle for the purpose of transporting supplies, materials, and/or passengers.
May perform minor periodic vehicle maintenance services such as washing, polishing, changing tires and checking and replenishing gas, oil, water and batteries.
Arranges the delivery, storage and pickup of books to and from assigned destinations.
Loads and unloads supplies and other materials. Maintains records, inventory, and files. May be responsible for the order and maintenance of a garage. Performs routine clerical work in support of the library. Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
LICENSE:
Appointees must possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
PREFERRED:
Appointees may be required to possess a valid Commercial Driver's License B (CDL) and applicable endorsements for the class and type of vehicle being operated.
ADDITIONAL RELEVANT SKILLS: Ability to acquire practical knowledge of library functions, services, terminology, techniques, procedures, and standard tools such as ILS (Integrated Library Systems), shelving arrangements, Dewey Decimal Classification System, and successful completion of relevant manager training within the organization. Knowledge of the Jersey City community and familiarity with the rules of the road and roadways in Jersey City Facility in a non-English language spoken in Jersey City (such as Spanish, Hindi, Arabic, Tagalog, etc.) is desired but not required.
NOTES:
For all employees, regardless of full-time or part-time status, JCFPL is considered the primary employer. Work hours are assigned according to the library's operational needs. Work hours are not scheduled to accommodate employees' other employment, academic, or other outside obligations, except in circumstances agreed upon in writing by the employee and the employee supervisor.
This vacancy is associated with a New Jersey Civil Service job title. The New Jersey Civil Service Commission requires all incumbents to possess and be prepared to verify the minimum experience and skills required for the associated Civil Service job title.
