Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on CNC Programmer. This role requires deep technical expertise in CNC manufacturing & CNC programming and strong leadership to oversee operator questions and needs at all locations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-precision environment and has experience with making CNC Programs suing CAD/CAM (Autodesk) for CNC Turning (Lathe) and 3 & 4 Axis CNC Milling.
Key Responsibilities
Programming & Technical:
Create and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam, Autodesk Fusion, or equivalent CAM software for CNC Turning and CNC Milling. Read and interpret complex part drawings, take STEP/IGES 3D Files and make efficient programs and assist machinists with optimizing set-ups and final GD&T. Select tools, correct tool paths, cutting strategies, and fixtures to ensure part accuracy and production efficiency. Troubleshoot programs and processes for quality or efficiency improvements. Coordinate and perform first article inspections, revisions, and approvals. Collaborate with engineering, quality, and sales to execute customer projects effectively. Lead team meetings, provide training and mentorship, and support professional development. Monitor machine utilization, downtime, and maintenance to minimize disruption.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of CNC programming experience in a precision machining environment. (CNC Turning and CNC Milling) At least 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a machine shop setting. Expertise with G-code & M-code programming for CNC Lathes (Haas ST-10 and Fanuc) and 3 & 4 Axis CNC Mills (Full 4 Axis Palate Changer HMC. (Tombstone Set Up). Strong understanding of blueprint reading, 3D file conversion into programs & GD&T, and precision metrology. Ability to work independently and lead a team with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in machining parts for aerospace, defense, energy, automotive standards. Ability to hold tight tolerances +/- 0.003, quality conscious production. Background in Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
