WakeMed Health & Hospitals is seeking a board-certified Internal Medicine or Hospitalist physician with fellowship training in Medical Genetics and Genomics to join our team as both a practicing clinician and our Medical Director of Genomics. This dual role offers the unique opportunity to deliver high-quality clinical care while shaping the future of precision medicine within our organization. Key Responsibilities:
Medical Director of Genomics (0.5 FTE): Contribute to the development and implementation of the health systems precision medicine strategy. Partner with IT, pharmacy, laboratory services, and clinical leadership to operationalize genomics in EHR workflows (e.g., Epic Genomics module). Serve as physician champion for pharmacogenomics, hereditary cancer, cardiogenomics, and other service-line specific applications. Guide interpretation and responsible use of genetic and genomic data across clinical departments. Oversee genomics education and training for providers, residents, and staff. Participate in institutional review of genetic testing policies, vendor selection, and clinical decision support tools. Serve as Principal Investigator in genomics-based studies Clinical Practice (0.5 FTE): Provide clinical medical care as either a hospitalist or outpatient internal medicine physician

EOE Licensure: Licensed Medical Physician and Board Certification in Area of Practice Required Board certification in Internal Medicine or Hospital Medicine. Board certification in Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG or equivalent). Eligible for medical licensure in North Carolina Education: Doctorate Medicine Required
Experience: Internship/Residency - Internal Medicine Required Fellowship Training in Medical Genetics Required MD or DO from an accredited institution. Preferred Experience:
Prior leadership in a precision medicine, genomics, or pharmacogenomics program. Comfort navigating lab reports from commercial and academic genomic testing vendors. Engagement with CPIC, ClinGen, or ACMG guidelines Familiarity with Epic EMR and clinical decision support tools preferred.
