Chip Ganassi Racing is seeking an innovative and driven
R&D Engineer
to support the development, testing, and optimization of high-performance racecar components. This shop-based role offers occasional travel opportunities and the chance to collaborate with top engineers in motorsports. You will be at the forefront of racecar performance enhancement, reliability improvements, and cutting-edge engineering design.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to enhance vehicle performance across multiple racing series. Diagnose and resolve reliability issues using a multi-disciplinary engineering approach. Design advanced components and perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to optimize for strength, weight, and performance. Utilize data acquisition systems, simulation tools, and test rigs to evaluate vehicle dynamics and component behavior. Prepare and present detailed technical reports and communicate findings clearly to engineering and trackside teams. Lead development projects from concept through execution, ensuring on-time delivery to meet competition demands. Support select off-site testing events and occasional race weekends as needed. To be successful in this role, you'll need:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (required) and 2+ years of racing industry experience -OR - Bachelor's degree in Motorsport Engineering with strong academic performance or significant extracurricular motorsports involvement. Proficiency with
SolidWorks CAD
and
FEA tools
is essential. Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles. Familiarity with motorsports data systems (preferred). Experience with
MATLAB
