Job Summary The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Bureau (CAS), within the Special Victims Division, is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as a Supervising Assistant District Attorney. The CAS Bureau investigates and prosecutes all felonies and misdemeanors involving and related to adult sexual assault, child sexual and physical abuse, and child homicides. The Bureau works collaboratively with the BXCAC to reduce trauma to child victims of abuse and their families. A Supervising ADA will oversee the Bureau’s legal and professional staff, supervise CAS case investigations and prosecutions, and assist in bureau administration, including reviewing and implementing best practices, developing trainings, and coordinating hearings and trials.
Job Responsibilities
Supervise legal and support staff in the prosecution of CAS cases.
Collaborate with bureau leadership to develop investigation and prosecution strategies.
Develop and implement best practices and policies.
Screen, evaluate, and assign cases to staff.
Advise staff on case handling, legal analysis, and criminal procedures.
Prepare reports and manage staff scheduling.
Serve as On-Call Supervisor on a rotational basis, including nights and weekends.
Conduct and facilitate training sessions, including CLEs and orientation programs.
Collaborate with outside agencies like NYPD, ACS, and Bronx CAC.
Attend required meetings and motivate staff.
Manage own case load and investigations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor degree.
Minimum of 5 years prosecutorial experience.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Expertise in Child Abuse and Sex Crimes preferred.
NY State Bar membership in good standing and current certificate of good standing.
Strong investigative, judgment, ethics, communication, and confidentiality skills.
Ability to handle high-volume cases, work nights, holidays, weekends.
US Citizenship and NY residency required as of first day.
Eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
