Join us today! #LINKEDIN #CHATSWORTH #SUPPLYCHAIN #PURCHASING Purchasing Manager Beauty Industry (Contract Manufacturing) Overview: The Purchasing Manager leads the purchasing team, aligning procurement strategies with inventory needs, sales forecasts, and production timelines. This role is critical in managing raw material sourcing, vendor relationships, and ensuring supply chain efficiency in a fast-paced, contract manufacturing environment within the beauty industry. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Procurement & Inventory Management Develop and maintain raw material inventory levels based on metrics from inventory control and client services. Oversee all new raw material purchases, including cost negotiation, lead times, MOQ, and FOB terms. Establish VMI, safety stock, and forecasts for frequently used materials. Provide corporate and supplier forecasts to ensure material availability. Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose purchasing system improvements. Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts with suppliers. Maintain customer-directed pricing and communicate changes to finance. Set up new suppliers and manage relationships to reduce costs and inventory. Cross-Functional Collaboration Attend pilot and new product meetings to ensure timely raw material delivery. Integrate R&D and supply chain processes for sample requests and substitutions. Communicate material allocations, FM status, and ETA changes across departments. Support high-volume, high-visibility product launches and customer meetings. Operational Oversight Supervise buyers workloads, performance, and development for JIT delivery. Manage replenishment buys, receiving issues, and expedite raw materials as needed. Review MRP data, planned orders, and standard costs for new purchases. Approve Medius invoices and resolve PO/accounting discrepancies. Reporting & Systems Management Maintain and update QAD data: lead times, safety stock, MOQ, reorder points. Provide monthly reports: In-Transit, Expiration, Liabilities, Past Due Receiving. Manage QAD housekeeping: duplicate/inactive raw, new raw setups, component updates. Complete corporate spreadsheets, forecasts, and reporting requirements. Lead process improvements and support innovation initiatives. Ensure compliance with internal procedures and industry regulations. Participate in ongoing education and stay current with industry trends. Qualifications: Bachelors or Associate degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field. Minimum 57 years of supply chain experience in consumer products. At least 2 years in a management role within contract manufacturing in the beauty industry (required). Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and data analytics capabilities. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive strategic initiatives.
