Are you looking to advance in your career? We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our accounting/finance team. This role will primarily focus on managing inventory costs and ensuring compliance with sales tax regulations/reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of cost accounting principles, and the ability to navigate various state tax requirements. Responsibilities

Monitor and analyze inventory transactions, including purchases, transfers, adjustments, and variances. Maintain accurate cost data for inventory, including standard costs, overhead allocations, and adjustments. Conduct periodic physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies. Prepare reports on inventory valuation, turnover, and cost trends to support decision-making. Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs. Ensure compliance with state and local sales tax regulations across all jurisdictions where the company operates. Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns. Monitor changes in tax regulations and update company practices accordingly. Respond to sales tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities. Maintain accurate records of sales tax calculations, exemptions, and payments. General Accounting Support

Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations. Provide support for budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis related to inventory and taxes. Collaborate with external auditors during financial and tax audits. Assist Controller/Team as needed. Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5-8 years of experience in accounting or a similar role in public and private/industry accounting. Public accounting experience a plus. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and sales tax regulations. Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments. CPA, but not required. Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment or similar environment that contains cost accounting/inventory. Familiarity with multi-state sales tax compliance, but not required.
