Overview
Construction Manager
role at
WSP in the U.S.
is a Full-Time position that may be based out of any WSP US office, including Tempe/Phoenix, AZ; San Diego, CA; Las Vegas, NV; Chicago, IL; or Detroit, MI. The successful candidate will provide construction and technical direction on building and facilities projects and oversee small to medium, multi-discipline projects from assignment through commissioning, close-out, and turnover to the client. Responsibilities
Supporting the Project Manager in tendering works, bid reviews and bid analysis. Managing construction projects upon award of contracts. Coordinating with contractors. Monitoring budget and schedule with adherence to cost and delivery contractual commitments. Conducting construction monitoring and documenting project status with a weekly report. Maintaining a weekly construction log in a concise, professional format. Recording significant verbal, telephone, and media messaging. Ensuring quality control and resolving issues related to fabrication, installation, or materials with contractors, trade disciplines, and suppliers. Managing change orders and understanding contractual requirements. Ensuring project safety and compliance with WSP and USPS SH&E requirements. Leading project start-up meetings and attending safety program meetings. Responding to RFIs, material and equipment submittals, and shop drawings. Interfacing with the client as required. Managing project turnover documentation, including as-built drawings, training manuals, and OEM manuals. Overseeing equipment and systems testing and commissioning. Field assignments are local and regional; travel may be required up to 100%. Implementing standards in line with USPS/WSP program requirements and seeking guidance from Senior Construction Managers as needed. Applying knowledge of construction processes and coordinating project elements across scope, time, cost, quality, and communications. Ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards and contract requirements. Maintaining clear, precise record keeping to meet contract and regulatory requirements. Compliance with all USPS/WSP Environmental, Health and Safety requirements. Types of buildings include offices, light industrial facilities, and maintenance facilities. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college. Experience working with outside third-party vendors, suppliers, and contractors. Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction management or related disciplines. Ability to self-motivate with an entrepreneurial spirit; proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and project management software such as Procore (willing to learn as applicable). Experience with direct and indirect resources; minimum 5+ years in CM capacity or supervisory role on light industrial or commercial projects. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively; knowledge of environmental, safety, and health regulatory compliance; negotiation and construction management skills. Resourceful, well organized, dependable, efficient, and detail-oriented. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience working with technical disciplines; strong organizational skills. Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, floor plans, shop drawings, specifications, and schedules related to architectural, civil, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and building structures. Physical Demands
Must have the ability to stoop, sit, stand, or be on their feet for extended periods and handle standard field-testing equipment. Must be able to work in varying environments (office and field) and be willing to travel. Must pass drug test, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record per company policy (MVR).
