The
Material Handling Technician
is responsible for overseeing the safe operation, daily monitoring, and maintenance activities associated with Material Handling Equipment (MHE), and maintenance of industrial automated conveyor belt systems. Key Responsibilities
Demonstrate an understanding and adherence to all work safety policies, procedures, and governing requirements Proficient in electrical meter testing Knowledge of controls and electric (AC - alternating current & DC - direct current low voltage) Understanding and working knowledge of PLCs (programmable logic controllers) and PLC troubleshooting Motors and motor starter knowledge (AC & DC) Motor starter knowledge Contactor and relay knowledge and repair Complete electrical repairs and welding projects as needed Maintain power material handling equipment (MHE), including preventive maintenance (PM) of MHE, checking, draining and filling oil levels, checking, adjusting or replacing belts and chains, troubleshooting electrical controls issues, replacing motors and controls, safety checks, PM per manufacturer recommendations Knowledge of hydraulic systems/schematics/components, electrical systems/schematics both AC and DC, drive motors, power amps, electrical controls including PLC systems Knowledge of mechanical systems including transmissions, drive units, differentials Completes all special projects associated with building or grounds, such as moving furniture or fixtures, changing lights, carpentry, painting, light plumbing, and minor electrical repairs Participate in departmental on-call program, as designated Log time and materials into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) daily (work orders, PMs, etc.) Maintain housekeeping of maintenance areas and work areas daily Maintain all tools and equipment in clean, safe, working order Adhere to safety requirements and wear required PPE Knowledge of metal fabrication, welding, torches, rigging, etc. (plus) Ability to climb stairs and ladders frequently Ability to lift up to 70 lbs regularly Ability to work in hot and cold environments and inclement weather Ability to stand for long durations Ability to work on elevated equipment and not have a fear of heights Respond to emergency situations to ensure employee and facility safety Champion overall safety in the department Comply with OSHA and other local, state, and federal regulations Adhere to organizational and Facilities Department policies and procedures including attire, grooming, and attendance Interact effectively, build relationships, and demonstrate a high level of cooperation Train and mentor MHE Tech I and II Skills & Qualifications
Willing to wear 100% cotton uniforms as part of arc flash protection gear Wearing safety toe boots at all times and all associated PPE as needed Required to supply a small pre-determined list of personal hand tools Specific skills in metal fabrication, welding, torches, rigging, etc. are a plus Must be able to climb stairs and ladders frequently Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs regularly Must be able to work in hot and cold environments including inclement weather Must be able to stand for long durations Must be able to work on elevated equipment (no fear of heights) Required Language
English – Fluency reading, speaking, and comprehension. Mandatory compliance tests will be given in English. All tests must be passed in order to be eligible for this position. Work Authorization
