Spyglass Talent Solutions, a retained recruitment firm, has been engaged by a confidential construction firm to conduct a search for an HR Manager in Raleigh-Durham.


This company is a well-established grading and utility contractor with projects across North Carolina. As the organization grows, it is seeking an experienced, hands-on HR Manager to lead human resources operations, support employee engagement, and oversee critical people processes across both field and office environments.


This is a dynamic, people-first role that blends day-to-day HR operations with strategic support, recruiting, and culture-building initiatives in a fast-paced construction setting.



Key Responsibilities



  • Oversee and administer company benefits programs, ensuring employees understand offerings during onboarding and throughout employment.

  • Partner with the Safety Department on workplace accidents, workers’ compensation claims, and incident follow-up.

  • Coordinate and conduct phone screens and interviews – particularly for operators, truck drivers, and field staff.

  • Manage the onboarding and orientation process for all new hires, ensuring a smooth integration into the company.

  • Support and coach managers and employees on employee relations, resolving workplace issues with professionalism and empathy.

  • Serve as backup for payroll processing as needed.

  • Help manage a drug testing program, maintaining compliance and consistency across the organization.

  • Contribute to internal communication and recruiting branding efforts, including support for LinkedIn and website content.

  • Create policies and procedures.



Skills and Experience



  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or similarly hands-on environments.

  • Strong understanding of benefits administration, workers' compensation, and general HR compliance.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required

  • Comfortable handling employee relations, including conflict resolution and performance conversations.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a flexible, people-first approach.

  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion, empathy, and sound judgment.



Base pay range


$80,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr
