The purpose of this position is to fulfill accounting and administrative functions and to ensure County funds are handled correctly. This position makes this possible by adhering to Arizona Statutes on governmental accounting and reporting as well as all Federal mandates. This position communicates with Departments on relevant issues, prepares the County End-of-the-Month Report, maintains files, and monitors County accounting system monthly to ensure accurate expenses and revenues are coded to the correct Department funds. Works to maintain accurate data and support to Treasurer’s Office accounting duties.

  • Attends to phone calls and provides guidance to citizens with tax-related questions during peak tax collection times and serves as back-up to the Treasurer Services Specialist as needed.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for any information concerning funds and budgets for County offices, fire districts and Cities and Towns.
  • Analyzes complex operating data and statistics.
  • Prepares and submits monthly reports, such as: Fiscal Year Reports and Monthly Fill the Gap Reports. Generates monthly warrant reports for various school districts and special districts.
  • Accurately allocates funds to various entities listed on taxbills, to ensure entities meet their budgets and maintain healthy credit lines. Such allocation process is carried out according to Arizona Statutes and accounting guidelines through reports and statements, completed daily, monthly and annually.
  • Processes daily opening and closing, treasurer’s receipts deposits and check processing.
  • Maintains and balances checkbook daily and proceses journals from Finance Department, schools and special districts.
  • Performs accounting support activities in the areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing and/or special districts.
  • Represents the County Treasurer’s Office in reference to the Office’s transactions and funds balances.
  • Serves as back-up to Accountant. Uploads and processes warrants from banks before posting and provides corresponding reports to the Finance Department and School Superintendent.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

Associates Degree in Accounting or related field.

MINIMUM YEARS OF DIRECTLY RELATED EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Three (3) years treasury services experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS REQUIRED/PREFERRED

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License if position duties require.

  • Constantly sits to complete report; routinely sits to complete a program and sits to attend to other duties.
  • Occasionally lifts under 10 lbs.
  • Constantly requires dexterity for keyboard operation.
  • Incumbents in this position may be required to routinely walk to and from work sites, bend, stoop, and twist.
