Summary: AMG Specialty Hospital – Oklahoma City is hiring a Telemetry Monitor Technician/Unit Secretary for Day Shifts. The Telemetry Monitor Technician – Unit Secretary accurately interprets cardiac rhythm strips every 4 hours, reports rhythm changes to the Primary Care Nurse, documents changes, operates monitor, speaker and phone systems, tracks monitored patients, preps charts with labeled rhythm strips, maintains supplies, and participates in performance improvement activities. The role provides indirect patient care in the medical-surgical setting and supports communication with patients, families, and staff. It requires adherence to hospital policies and regulatory standards. Shift differentials are paid for weekend shifts. This is a full-time position based in Oklahoma City.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret cardiac rhythm strips (rate, rhythm, PR interval, QRS, QT) every 4 hours and report changes to the Primary Care Nurse.
  • Post rhythm changes in patient records and maintain accurate documentation of arrhythmias.
  • Operate monitor, speaker, and phone systems; run a continuous strip during code blues.
  • Prepare and maintain patient charts with rhythm strips; track monitored patients at all times.
  • Maintain supplies and keep the patient label book up to date; ensure pre-set par limits are met.
  • Provide indirect patient care and meet communication needs of patients, families, and staff.
  • Initiate directions from physicians and nursing staff; participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Maintain regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Successful completion of Basic EKG Monitoring Course.
  • Previous experience in rhythm interpretation; Telemetry Technician experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of monitoring equipment and medical terminology; ability to read and communicate effectively in English; additional languages desirable.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
