Position Summary Under the guidance of the Regional Education Director and in accordance with the YMCA of Southeastern NC's mission and policies, the Afterschool Site Coordinator is dedicated to the specific site and oversees the program in partnership with the school. The site director serves as the primary face-to-face contact for school administration, faculty, parents, and guardians, helping establish and maintain the afterschool program. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary skills, leadership, and competencies to fulfill the YMCA's mission and serve the community effectively. Responsibilities include providing program direction, implementing curriculum, and ensuring a quality experience for children and parents based on YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. Position Details This is a seasonal, part-time, hourly position paying $15.12 - $15.88/hour based on experience. Essential Functions Implement curriculum within established guidelines. Design and execute daily lesson and activity plans. Supervise children, classrooms, and activities. Conduct ongoing observations and evaluations of children. Keep parents informed about site and program activities, and communicate behavior concerns. Conduct parent conferences, maintain positive relationships, and engage parents as volunteers. Maintain program site and equipment. Keep required records, including attendance, incident reports, behavior reports, and CACFP records. Participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and training. Follow Healthy Eating and Physical Activity standards. Train new staff on YMCA policies. Supervise afterschool counselors, adjusting schedules to maintain appropriate ratios and budgets. Build relationships with school and community stakeholders to strengthen YMCA partnerships. Assist with lunch monitoring, playground duties, and other tasks for sites serving 60+ children, as needed. Perform additional duties assigned by the Youth Services District Director. Qualifications Two or more years of college preferred, working towards a degree in education or related field. At least 21 years old, with relevant training for YMCA programs. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications required within 30 days of hire. Experience working with children in developmental settings preferred. Ability to plan and implement age-appropriate activities. Experience with diverse populations and developing positive relationships. Physical Demands Ability to plan, lead, and participate in activities.
