Sunrise Senior Living . Job Overview Resident Care Director (RCD) serves as the nursing clinical leader for the community, leading health and wellness coordination of care and services for residents. Responsible for oversight and implementation of all care programs, regulatory compliance, recruiting, and performance management. Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership for resident care by directing, monitoring, and coordinating the nursing team in accordance with state/provincial law to promote resident health and wellness. Deliver clinical care through nursing processes: assessments, progress notes, ISP/ICP development, care planning, and evaluation of resident outcomes; delegate hands-on clinical care as indicated. Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other clinical providers to coordinate resident care. Serve as CLIA Director as applicable; partner with Neighborhood Coordinators to integrate wellness operations and resident care; collaborate with Sales to assess move-in suitability. Seek direction from RN as needed per regulations. Medication Management Provide leadership for medication care management, oversee the medication management program for resident safety, onboarding, training, and performance reviews. Provide clinical training and education to nurses, medication care managers, and others; perform skill evaluation of care team members. Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance Track and report clinical quality data; participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities. Lead clinical quality and process improvement initiatives; recruit, hire, and train clinical team members; manage staffing and scheduling. Promote resident safety and ensure compliance with Risk Management, OSHA/Workers’ Compensation requirements; serve as ICC and CLIA Director as applicable; oversee infection control programming. Ensure compliance with Federal, State/Provincial, and board of nursing regulations. Financial Management Manage department budget, including labor and other expenses; process monthly expenses per Sunrise policies. Understand internal costs associated with Sunrise resident care programs. Training, Leadership and Team Member Development Collaborate with Regional Director of Resident Care/Executive Director on Sunrise University training; onboard new RCD leaders and coordinators. Develop knowledge of regulations and ensure compliance; supervise staffing and scheduling; hold team accountable and document actions. Attend regular meetings; pursue professional development and ensure required trainings are completed. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited nursing program; current state/provincial RN license. Minimum 2 years RN experience, with at least 1 year in home health, assisted living, or long-term care preferred. Minimum 1 year nursing management experience (hiring, coaching, performance management, scheduling, daily operations supervision). CPR and First Aid certification; knowledge of infection control; ability to delegate per regulations. Experience in tracking and analyzing clinical performance data; quality/process improvement experience preferred. Staff development, training, and clinical education experience preferred. Strong multi-tasking and time management; clinical judgment and decision-making skills; computer proficiency with EMR and MS Office; ability to learn new applications. Ability to work weekends/evenings and flexible hours; 24/7 on-call responsibility.
