Sunrise of San Rafael The Resident Care Director (RCD) serves as the nursing clinical leader for the community and is responsible to lead and manage health and wellness along with coordination of care and services to residents within the community. This role includes oversight and implementation of all care programs, regulatory compliance, recruiting, and performance management. Job Overview

The RCD leads nursing and clinical activities to promote resident health and wellness in accordance with state/provincial law and Sunrise standards. Responsibilities include supervising the nursing team, coordinating care, collaborating with physicians and other clinical providers, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Responsibilities

Provides strategic leadership for resident care in the community by managing, directing, and monitoring the nursing team in alignment with state/provincial law to promote resident health and wellness. Delivers clinical care through the nursing process, conducts resident assessments and progress notes, evaluates care needs, develops Individualized Service Plans/Individualized Care Plans, and evaluates resident outcomes. Collaborates with physicians, pharmacists, and other clinical providers to coordinate care and services for residents. Acts as the CLIA Director as applicable for the community according to federal and state/provincial requirements. Partners with Neighborhood Coordinators to promote an integrated approach to wellness operations and resident care. Collaborates with Sales partners to assess community capability and resident move-in suitability. Seeks direction from a Registered Nurse as needed in accordance with regulations and nurse practice acts. Medication Management

Provides leadership for medication management by overseeing medication care managers as applicable by law to promote resident safety. Oversees the community medication management program, onboarding, training, and performance reviews. Provides clinical training and education to nurses and care staff and conducts skill evaluations to ensure clinical capability. Quality Assurance And Regulatory Compliance

Tracks and reports clinical quality data to identify risk and participates in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement committee. Leads clinical quality and process improvement initiatives to mitigate risk and improve outcomes. Recruits, hires, trains, and manages performance of clinical team members, including staffing and scheduling. Ensures resident safety and regulatory compliance with Risk Management and applicable health and safety regulations. Serves as ICC and CLIA Director as applicable and oversees infection control programming in line with requirements. Ensures compliance with all Federal, State/Provincial, board of nursing, and other regulations. Financial Management

Manages the department budget, including labor costs, and understands impact on the community’s bottom line. Prepares and submits monthly expenses and budget data per Sunrise policies. Understands internal costs associated with Sunrise resident care programs. Training, Leadership And Team Member Development

Collaborates with Regional Director of Resident Care and/or Executive Director on Sunrise University training and self-study programs. Onboards new RCD leaders and department coordinators as needed. Maintains knowledge of state/provincial regulations and ensures compliance through supervision and coaching. Manages clinical team staffing and scheduling according to budget and operations. Holds clinical team accountable and documents performance. Attends regular meetings and stays current with professional development and required trainings. Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited college or school of nursing with a current Registered Nurse (RN) license. Minimum two (2) years RN experience, with at least one (1) year in home health, assisted living, or long-term care preferred. Minimum one (1) year nursing management experience, including hiring, coaching, performance management, scheduling, and operations supervision. CPR and First Aid certification. Knowledge of nursing practices and regulations; infection control knowledge. Ability to delegate based on skill and regulatory compliance. Experience with tracking and analyzing clinical performance data; quality/process improvement experience preferred. Experience in staff development, training, and clinical education preferred. Strong multitasking, organizational, and time management skills; critical thinking and clinical judgment. Computer proficiency with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office; ability to learn new applications. Ability to work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours as needed, including 24/7 on-call responsibility. About Sunrise
