Job Summary
The Project Controls Manager will work collaboratively with their respective business units to ensure the SMS policies and standard operating procedures are understood and implemented for all projects. The role will measure and analyze project performance metrics to mitigate risk and ensure relentless execution. Key Responsibilities
Coordinate compliance auditing of project-related governance required by the SMS and Project Management Plan (PMP) established by the project team and approved by the Business Unit Management. Drive Lean principles and practices throughout the organization as part of continuous improvement on all projects. Evaluate and propose updates to SMS workflows, forms, templates and system manuals based on interaction with project teams. Identify areas of excellence for best practices and lessons learned with potential for broader implementation across the organization, including training, development and support needs. Measure presence, functionality and value added from project use of system software (e.g., Prolog, JDE, Textura) in applying SMS. Optimize utilization of VDC company-wide to improve parametric estimating, budgeting and scheduling results. Participate in business unit project status reporting (MPR & ELPR), including identifying actionable measures for improvement, lessons learned and follow-up. Participate in the development of data analytics and reporting formats to streamline auditing and ensure consistent application of SMS policy and procedures. Perform analytical review and measurement of project performance metrics and trends to identify early warnings of performance risk. Provide Business Unit support in development and implementation of recovery plans for critical project management performance deficiencies as assigned by PMO. Provide support and guidance to Business Units in establishing and maintaining consistent Project Management Plans required by the SMS. Support development, training and implementation of key processes and systems. Collaborate with business units to ensure uniform understanding and implementation of SMS policy and procedures. Minimum Job Requirements
Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Finance/Accounting preferred. Experience with large complex construction projects (>$50MM). Knowledge and experience in construction operations within Building, Transportation and/or Industrial markets. Knowledge and experience with scheduling using enterprise-based scheduling software. P6 experience preferred. Knowledge of SMS and Sundt operations procedures. Minimum 7-10 years relevant construction experience; 3-5 years with Sundt preferred. Proficiency in understanding and interpreting contract agreements, cost and revenue forecasting, risk identification and management, change identification and management, and cost estimating. Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs and Prolog. Strong leadership, teamwork and communication skills. Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required (including steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest). May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis. May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis. May use telephone, computer system, email or other electronic devices to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors. Must be able to comply with safety standards and procedures. Occasionally climb stairs, ladders, etc. Must use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis. Will interact with people frequently during a shift/work day. Will lift, push or pull objects on an occasional basis. Will sit, stand or walk short distances for the entire shift/work day. Safety Level
