Overview
Traveling Construction Superintendent — Regional Travel Required (Indiana & Ohio). We are seeking an experienced Traveling Construction Superintendent to oversee construction and renovation projects within food manufacturing plants across the region. As the Superintendent, you will manage all on-site activities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to the highest quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in construction management, preferably within food production environments, and the ability to travel frequently to various project sites. Key Responsibilities
Project Oversight: Manage all aspects of construction, including scheduling, site preparation, budgeting, and resource allocation. Ensure renovations and new construction meet design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory compliance. Team Leadership: Supervise on-site construction crews, subcontractors, and vendors. Provide clear communication and leadership to ensure project milestones are met. Quality Control: Monitor construction activities to ensure they comply with quality standards, client expectations, and safety regulations. Conduct regular inspections and resolve on-site issues promptly. Safety Compliance: Enforce OSHA and other relevant safety protocols. Ensure workers are properly trained and follow safety procedures. Client Interaction: Serve as the main point of contact for clients, communicating needs and providing regular updates on progress, issues, and solutions. Cost Management: Manage project budgets, identify potential cost savings, and ensure projects are completed within financial constraints. Review and approve subcontractor invoices and work orders. Schedule Management: Develop, update, and maintain detailed project schedules. Anticipate delays and proactively manage timelines to ensure on-time completion. Travel and Flexibility: Be prepared to travel to various job sites, typically spending weeks to months on each project depending on scope and location. Travel may involve overnight stays and managing multiple projects simultaneously. Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in construction management, with a focus on food manufacturing plants, industrial facilities, or similar environments. Knowledge: Strong knowledge of construction processes, food safety standards, building codes, and regulations applicable to food production facilities. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered. Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Certification or similar safety certifications required. PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is a plus. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage diverse teams, including contractors, engineers, and vendors. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, team members, and other stakeholders. Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a track record of resolving on-site challenges and keeping projects on track.
