Overview
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Operators will operate one or more construction equipment such as but not limited to forklift, bob cats, bulldozers, excavators, skid steer, mini excavator, full size excavator, front-end loaders, back hoes, rubber tire backhoe, rollers, and graders to move earth.
Typical Duties
- Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."

- Performs loading and unloading of equipment and supplies.
- Performs precision positioning of equipment, lifting heavy machinery and components, as well as beams and lumber.
- Works in a cab and uses pilot operated joystick controls, pedals, levers and buttons to lift, move, and position loads using hoisting attachments, such as hooks, slings, electromagnets, and buckets.
- Observes load hookup and determines safety of load and inspects and reports on crane and hoisting mechanism.
- Communicates with team members both verbally and by signal instruction, following directions closely.
- Operates equipment to dig trenches and holes of specified length, depth, and width and grade.
- Works around existing underground utilities and tight areas.
- Understands shoring, soil classes and dewatering.
- Uses equipment to remove loosened material and put in piles or transport trucks.
- Identifies safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and takes all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
- Performs all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.
Physical/Special Requirements
- Work will require long periods of sitting.
- Ability to talk and hear to communicate; use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
- May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs.
- Requires visual ability sufficient to perform job duties; work normally requires eye-hand coordination.
- Dexterity in arms, legs, hands, and feet; precise coordinated movements.
- Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear protection, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and leather work boots.
- Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work from elevated or uneven surfaces.
- Work may include frequent bending, kneeling, crouching and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers.
- Travel and overtime may be required.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of three (3) years of mechanical, industrial or refinery maintenance experience. Must be able to pass equipment test and visual observation of operating equipment. Complete the Matrix Service Safety training and/or Client/Site specific training. Must pass a background check. Must obtain and maintain an active status within the applicable drug testing program.
