PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Operates a variety of heavy equipment including Cat 308 excavators, front-end loaders, skid-steers, trackhoes, backhoes, excavators, dozers, graders, and trenchers.

Typical Duties:

  • Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."
  • Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the "Code of Business Conduct and Ethics."
  • Performs loading and unloading of equipment and supplies.
  • Precisely positions equipment, lifts heavy machinery and components, beams, and lumber.
  • Works in a cab using pilot-operated joystick controls, pedals, levers, and buttons to lift, move, and position loads with hoisting attachments such as hooks, slings, electromagnets, and buckets.
  • Observes load hookup, determines safety of load, and inspects and reports on crane and hoisting mechanisms.
  • Maintains careful attention to follow directions closely, communicating verbally and via signals with team members.
  • Operates equipment to dig trenches and holes of specified dimensions and grades.
  • Works around existing underground utilities and in tight areas.
  • Understands shoring, soil classifications, and dewatering processes.
  • Removes loosened material and transports it to piles or trucks.
  • Identifies safety hazards and takes corrective actions to minimize risks.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervision.

PHYSICAL/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work from elevated or uneven surfaces.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and occasional climbing onto equipment or trailers.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying objects weighing 35 to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Visual ability sufficient for job duties, including eye-hand coordination.
  • Travel and overtime may be required.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum of three (3) years of mechanical, industrial, or refinery maintenance experience. Knowledge of basic hand tools. Ability to pass equipment tests and visual inspections. Completion of Matrix Service Safety training and/or client/site-specific training. Must pass background checks and maintain active status in drug testing programs.
