Primary Responsibilities
System Administration:
Perform daily administration tasks, including system monitoring, job management, and device control for IBM iSeries servers.
Performance & Security:
Optimize system performance through tuning and maintenance. Implement and manage security protocols, user access, and auditing to protect data integrity.
Backup & Recovery:
Develop, document, and maintain comprehensive backup and recovery procedures, including disaster recovery planning.
Software & Hardware Management:
Install, configure, and maintain AS400 hardware, software, and networked devices. This includes applying PTFs, patches, and upgrades.
Troubleshooting:
Provide advanced technical support and troubleshoot complex issues related to the AS400 system and its applications.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other IT teams, including developers, to support application deployments and resolve technical challenges.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 7+ years of hands-on experience as an AS400 System Administrator in an enterprise environment.
Strong proficiency in IBM iSeries operating systems (e.g., IBM i OS v10, POWER10).
Expertise in backup and recovery processes, including experience with BRMS (Backup, Recovery, and Media Services) or similar tools.
Working knowledge of programming languages such as
RPG, RPGLE, and CL .
Experience with SQL databases on the IBM iSeries platform.
