Home Instead is looking for an individual with a caring heart, a strong desire to help others, and some caregiving experience, to help serve our clients in Saint Joseph and some surrounding areas.

Home Instead provides a variety of services to help aging adults stay in their homes safely while maintaining their independence. Our team of caregivers shares a positive attitude and a desire to do fulfilling, meaningful work that makes a difference in the lives of our clients and their families.

Qualifications to be a Caregiver:

• Compassion, patience, and empathy.
• Problem solving.
• Collaborative nature, ability to work as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Previous caregiving experience, either professionally or as a family caregiver.
• Availability to work overnight shifts up to 12 hours in St. Joseph, MO, or some surrounding areas.
• Availability to work weekend shifts.
• Reside within 20 miles of St. Joseph, MO.
• Valid U.S. Driver's License, auto insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle to transport clients.
• Pass a criminal and motor vehicle background check.
• Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push, and pull for up to 8 hours.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull 25 lbs.
• We are currently seeking non-smoking applicants.

A Day in the Life of a Caregiver:

As an integral part of your client’s daily routine, you will provide companionship, plan and prepare meals, and perform light housekeeping tasks such as dusting and laundry. You will help your client maintain their independence, dignity, and respect by assisting them with personal care needs such as bathing, dressing, or incontinence care. You will also transport clients to appointments, provide medication reminders, and coordinate with their care team to ensure they receive care that meets the Home Instead standard.
