Position Summary Information
The purpose of this position is to provide high-quality instruction and maintain a positive, safe learning environment for all students by instructing assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need.
Job Description Summary
Phlebotomist
- Performs various types of specimen collection, phlebotomy (including mobile route) and drug test monitoring.
- Reviews lab reports and performs quality review and troubleshooting, resolving problems as they occur.
- Demonstrate to the students how to: obtain blood specimens by established venipuncture and capillary techniques; Label samples, send specimens to the laboratory for analysis, and how to complete essential records.
Electrocardiography (EKG)
- This course will target students who are interested in learning the fundamentals of becoming a cardiovascular technician.
- The instructor will demonstrate the fundamentals of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
- Includes basic electrocardiography procedures, interpretation of basic dysrhythmias, and appropriate treatment modalities.
- Describe the anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system; perform basic electrocardiography procedures; and interpret basic dysrhythmias.
Minimum Qualifications
- Certifications in related field and/or High School Diploma.
- Minimum 5 Years Related Work Experience.
- Some disciplines may require additional education or certification.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Excellent communication skills.
- Efficient computer skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years teaching or training experience.
- Experience developing lesson plans, classroom management, and curriculum.
Job Duties
- Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need.
- Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
- Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes.
- Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
- Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes within college policy and procedures.
- Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials.
- Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the Course Syllabus Guidelines and facilitates a clear understanding between student and instructor of the content, goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods and schedule of work.
- Maintain daily attendance rosters.
- Submit final hard copies of daily attendance rosters and grade sheets to the Continuing Education Department.
