Position Summary Information

The purpose of this position is to provide high-quality instruction and maintain a positive, safe learning environment for all students by instructing assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need.

Job Description Summary

Phlebotomist

• Performs various types of specimen collection, phlebotomy (including mobile route) and drug test monitoring.
• Reviews lab reports and performs quality review and troubleshooting, resolving problems as they occur.
• Demonstrate to the students how to: obtain blood specimens by established venipuncture and capillary techniques; Label samples, send specimens to the laboratory for analysis, and how to complete essential records.

Electrocardiography (EKG)

• This course will target students who are interested in learning the fundamentals of becoming a cardiovascular technician.
• The instructor will demonstrate the fundamentals of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
• Includes basic electrocardiography procedures, interpretation of basic dysrhythmias, and appropriate treatment modalities.
• Describe the anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system; perform basic electrocardiography procedures; and interpret basic dysrhythmias.

Minimum Qualifications

• Certifications in related field and/or High School Diploma.
• Minimum 5 Years Related Work Experience.
• Some disciplines may require additional education or certification.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Excellent communication skills.
• Efficient computer skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two (2) years teaching or training experience.
• Experience developing lesson plans, classroom management, and curriculum.

Job Duties

• Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need.
• Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
• Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes.
• Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
• Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes within college policy and procedures.
• Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials.
• Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the Course Syllabus Guidelines and facilitates a clear understanding between student and instructor of the content, goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods and schedule of work.
• Maintain daily attendance rosters.
• Submit final hard copies of daily attendance rosters and grade sheets to the Continuing Education Department.
