Overview

Saiia Construction, a MasTec company, is currently hiring for a Heavy Equipment Operator with Long Reach Excavator experience in the Pittsburg, TX area.

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment including excavator, dozers, graders, dump trucks, front-end loaders, compactors, scrapers, and water trucks to move materials to and from designated areas; participate in required training; and ensure all established safety rules, procedures, policies, OSHA and MSHA regulations are followed.

Responsibilities

  • Excavator Operation: Operates excavator, which digs holes and trenches and moves earth, gravel, and other materials; starts engine; controls hydraulic shovel or attachments; may utilize GPS grade technology.
  • Bulldozer - Grader Operator: Operates bulldozer or grader to gouge out, level, and distribute soil, sand, ore, rock, and other materials; may attach tools; maneuvers blade and attachments to clear right of way and establish desired grade.
  • Truck Driver: Operates trucks equipped with dump bodies to transport and dump loose materials; loads and unloads as required; may be designated by material type and project.
  • Front-End Loader Operator: Operates loader to lift and transport bulk materials and load trucks; starts engine and maneuvers bucket.
  • Compactor Operator: Operates compaction equipment to achieve specified compaction for subgrade preparation; controls machine and advances over the surface in overlapping passes.
  • Scraper / Tractor Operator: Operates scraper to move, haul, and grade earth; controls loading gate, depth of cut, and material dump; connects power to attachments as needed.
  • Water Truck Driver: Transports and sprinkles water to control dust; performs basic maintenance and inspections on the water truck as required.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of EPA, OSHA, MSHA and related state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to use email, smartphone, tablet, or computer to manage company information and documents.
  • Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must be able to maintain acceptable attendance standards per employee handbook.
  • Approach and complete work in a meticulous, thorough, and timely manner.
