Role Description

People Inc. is seeking Freelance Food Testers to support our Food & Wine and Serious Eats brands. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about food, cooking, and kitchen innovation, and who possess a strong attention to detail.

As a Freelance Food Tester, you will participate in hands-on testing of a variety of food and kitchen-related products in our Birmingham, Alabama testing lab. Products may include cookware, appliances, tools, and other items relevant to home cooking and food preparation. You will evaluate each product based on established testing methodology and provide thoughtful, detailed feedback to inform editorial reviews.

Tester Responsibilities

• Participate in hands-on testing of products for one People Inc. brand
• Carefully review testing methodology that includes the steps to properly test a product as well as photo guidelines
• Answer questions to provide detailed feedback on product performance, usability, and functionality

Compensation

For Lab (testing hours are 9 - 5 pm):

• $125 for a half day of testing (4 hours)
• $250 for a full day of testing (8 hours)
