Medical Technologist/MLT/Lab Technician

Cleveland Clinic . We’re hiring clinical laboratory testing personnel in three different job titles based on educational background: Medical Technologist, Med Lab Technician, Lab Technician. This caregiver performs and interprets tests at all complexity levels, understands the theory and scientific principles of laboratory testing, and maintains a questioning attitude to determine patient care results. Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results. Maintain regulatory knowledge as it pertains to specific job duties. Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies, document QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance. Identify and resolve quality control or quality assurance issues; communicate as needed. Maintain instruments and equipment per manufacturer specifications. Maintain good documentation practices and clear records. Perform proficiency testing in compliance with CLIA; analyze proficiency samples and ensure proper documentation and reporting. Participate in continuing education, professional development and annual competency assessment. Follow established policies when test systems are not within acceptable performance levels. Identify problems affecting test performance or reporting and take corrective action or notify supervisors. May function as an educator, providing instruction and training on theory, skills, safety and test protocols. Qualifications
Minimum: Associate Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology, or Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from a four-year college or university, or meets CLIA qualifications for high complexity testing (grandfathering). Education outside the United States requires translated diplomas/transcripts and proof of foreign equivalency from a recognized agency. Preferred qualifications
Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT, MLT or MLS) or certification eligible from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT). Additional details
Shift: Evening hours, 3:00pm–11:30pm. Physical requirements include visual acuity to study specimens under a microscope, color differentiation, fine motor skills, standing for long periods, and potential exposure to hazardous materials. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows Standard Precautions using PPE as required for procedures. Pay range: Salaries vary by market; discuss salary during the application process.
