Overview The University of Virginia's School of Education and Human Development seeks qualified applicants for the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education to teach and provide content expertise for programs in reading and literacy education. Opportunities are available on grounds at the University of Virginia and online during summer 2025 and the 2025–26 academic year.

Responsibilities

Teach and contribute content expertise for reading and literacy education programs.

Teach a single course per appointment, with appointments made on an ongoing basis according to curriculum needs.

Provide high-quality instruction and support for students in both on-campus and online formats as applicable.

Qualifications

Terminal degree in Reading or Literacy Education is required.

Strong commitment to teaching excellence.

Previous K-12 or higher education teaching experience in the course content area is strongly preferred.

Appointment Details This is an at-will faculty wage position which does not carry benefits. Positions will be filled on an ongoing basis according to curriculum needs.

Physical Demands This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job occasionally requires traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
