Position: Chair in the Economics of the Middle East
Columbia University's Department of Economics and Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies (IIJS) are seeking to fill a chair in the Economics of the Middle East. We invite scholars from any area of economics (e.g., macroeconomics, labor economics, economic history) whose research involves engagement with Israel within the Middle East and regional issues.
Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in this area and mentor graduate students.
The appointment can be at any tenure-track rank: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor.
The position is available to begin as early as July 1, 2026.

Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Economics or related field.
Outstanding publication record.
Proven excellence in teaching.
